Crosswords Quintet+ Spring Concert

This past Sunday, May 25, 2008, 4 pm, Spring Green Memorial Church was the setting for the first public concert by the “Crosswords Quintet + (Plus)”. The spring concert, conducted under the direction of Marge Jones, was an uplifting success. The concert was held with more than 68 family, friends and well wishers in attendance to benefit the “Colorado Team Youth Group”. A free will offering was collected in lieu of an admission fee, and will be used to help send our church youth to the American Baptist National Youth Gathering in Estes Park, Colorado come this July.

MEET THE COLORADO TEAM

Hi everyone, it’s time to meet the “leaders” of the team. Guenther and I were thrilled and honored to be asked to accompany and lead our youth in their quest for knowledge and spirituality at the More Than a Week Conference in Estes Park, Colorado in July. Most of you know us very well.

We both feel that all of us will come back renewed and refreshed. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen our spirituality and knowledge of God. Hopefully, the connections we make during this trip will be long-lasting ones. We thank you for your confidence in us.

Meet Jaime Brown

Hi my name is Jaime Brown. I am 19 years old and a sophomore at the University of Rhode Island. I am majoring in psychology and hope to work with children in trauma cases. I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, swimming, dance and music. My reason and inspiration for becoming part of the Colorado team is for my own spiritual growth. I want to be able to connect with others who are my age and who have great faith in the Lord, our God. This will be a once in a lifetime chance for me and I would not want to miss it for the world. I feel this experience will benefit me in other areas of my life as I grow older.

Meet Michaela Jones

Hi, my name is Michaela Jones. I am 20 years old and a member of the Colorado Team. Going to Colorado is important to me because as a teen I never belonged to a strong youth group, and I've never had the opportunity to do anything like this. I am looking forward to going because I feel that it will help me increase my faith, and bring me closer to God. Also I'm looking forward to meeting new people my age who share the same faith as me, as most of my friends do not. I think Colorado will be a trip that I will remember forever. Most people in the church do not know me very well as I have only been coming to Spring Green about a year, but going to church has always been a part of my life. I also am a student at Arthur Angelo Hairdressing School in Warwick . Outside of school my favorite thing to do is horseback ride, it’s something I have been doing for about 10 years. I hope this paragraph has helped you get to know me and why I am part of the Colorado Team and so excited to go. Thank you for your support of the team, we are getting closer and closer to our fundraising goal everyday with your help! :)
